The built-in Sticky Notes application that comes with both Microsoft Windows 7 & 8 is very useful and it saves a lot of time and paper. It doesn’t have a ton of features, but it will most likely serve your purposes well. In this tutorial we’ll cover it’s limited features and show you how to get the most from it each day.

To access the built-in Sticky Notes app, begin by:

  1. Clicking on “Start” or the Pearl in the lower left corner of your screen.

  1. Next, click on “All Programs” and then on “Accessories.

  1. Next, click on “Sticky Notes”.

  1. The “Sticky Notes” application will then display a blank note. At this point you can enter any text that you need to save on the desktop.

  1. You have the option of resizing the note by simply dragging the bottom edge or the left or right side of the not until it reaches the size that you want.

  1. The note may also be repositioned on your desktop.

  1. You may also open a new note by clicking on the “Add” button located in the upper left corner of any opened Sticky Notes.

  1. Once you are done with a note and wish to close it, you can close the desired note by clicking on the delete button in the upper right corner  of the selected note.

  1. Once you click the close button, a delete confirmation prompt will open. Simply click on “Yes” to confirm that you want to remove the note. You also have the option at this point of selecting to not have the delete confirmation prompts shown again. You can disable the delete conformation prompts by clicking the check box beside “Don’t display this message again”.

An Important Note:

If you select the “Don’t display this message again option”, the only way to re-enable the delete confirmations will be to make a Windows registry modification. So, don’t select the display option unless you’re absolutely sure about your choice.

  1. Once you click on the confirmation, the note will close.
