What Is Spyware?

Spyware Program Definition

Spyware programs are applications that monitor your computer use and website visits. They collect data on your activities and then send that collected information to various entities without your knowledge or consent. Spyware may be used to track and store your website visits. And once enough data has been gathered about your activities, you may begin to observe pop up advertisements that target your past online search subjects.

Spyware can be used for more than just gathering simple website activity data. It can also be used to gather personal and financial data such as login credentials for online bank accounts and credit card information.

Spyware may be bundled with legitimate applications for unsuspecting online users to download.
