Have you purchased a new personal computer  and now you need to migrate the data from your original computer to the new one? Maybe you just need to duplicate your web browser favorites to another computer for added ease of use on the second system. Either way moving your Internet Explorer favorites can be accomplished very easily. In this tutorial we will show you how to do so.


To transfer your Internet Explorer Favorites, begin by:

  1. Opening Internet Explorer and then click on the “File” drop down menu.






















  1. Next, click on “Import and Export”.






















  1. Next., select “export To A File”.
















  1. Next, select the files that you want to copy. By default only the favorites will be checked initially. If you also want to include the RSS Feeds and/or cookies, then check the additional options as well.

















  1. Next, select the favorites that you want to transfer. If you want to migrate all of  your favorites, click the “Favorites” folder at the top of the tree.

















  1. Next, choose a  file folder destination to save the exported favorites. Afterwards click on the “Export” button.

















  1. Now you’ll need to copy the file to a flash drive or burn it on a cd and then go to the computer that you need to transfer the favorites to and open  Internet Explorer.
  2. Next, click on the “File” drop down menu.






















  1. Next, click on the “Import and Export” option.






















  1. Next, select “Import from a file” option and then click “Next”.

















  1. Select what you need to import to the new computer and then click on “Next”.
















  1. Next, select the file that you exported from your original computer and then transported to the new system. Afterwards click “Next”.
















Next, select  the destination for the favorites to be imported to. Selecting the “Favorites” folder at the top of the tree is the usual choice. Afterwards click on “Import”.
















  1. That’s it, you’re done! Your favorites should now be listed in the favorites on the new computer.
