What is an Ip Address?


An acronym for Internet Protocol Address, is an address of a device connected to a network utilizing TCP/IP. An example of an IP address would be "192.168.0.1". An IP Address is similar to the physical address of a building or home. And they allow data to reach specific destinations on private networks and the Internet. Each IP address consists of 4 sets of octets. And those octets break down into binary values that represent the IP address.

To date, there are currently five classes of available (IP) Internet Protocol Address ranges. And they include: Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D and also Class E.
