In this tutorial we will show you how to modify the default file download location settings in the Opera browser. The settings are easy to change. And we’ve also included a supplemental video tutorial down at the bottom of this page.

To modify Opera’s default file download location settings, begin by:

  1. Opening Opera and then, click on the “Main Menu Button” in the upper left hand corner of the browser window.

  1. Next, once the drop down menu appears, click on “Settings”.

  1. Next, make sure that the “Browser” section is selected on the left and then afterwards proceed down the settings page to the “Downloads” section.

  1. Under “Downloads”, you have the option of being asked at the start of each file download where you want to save the file.

  1. You also can change where the new downloaded files are saved by default. To do so, click on the “Change” button to the right.

  1. And then next select the new location that Opera will use by default when new files are downloaded.

  1. Afterwards, click on “Ok” and then exit out of the settings area.

  1. That’s it, you’re all done! The new settings should now be applied.
