Data loss and/or corruption can occur for many reasons including,
If you have any indication that you are experiencing data loss or that you possibly have a file corruption situation, the first thing to discontinue doing is, accessing data on the computer of hard drive that the missing or corrupted data resides on. Continued computer and/or hard drive use decreases the chance of a successful data recovery operation, because data is still possibly being written in or over the affected storage device areas. And even if the data recovery is successful, because of data being written over it before the recovery, the recovered data may be corrupted and unusable without reconstruction and extensive repairs.
Smith Technical Resources performs non invasive level 1 and level 2 data recovery procedures on failing hard drives and flash drives. We can recover data, and in some cases repair the damaged areas on your hard drive. The hard drive must not be failing mechanically or be “bricked”. And must still spin up for us to recover data from it. Data recovery is a delicate procedure and the success rate depends on the techniques used and the condition of the storage device that the data needs to be recovered from. This can be a very time consuming procedure to perform. That’s why we always advise all of our clients to keep current backups of all of their important data. Spending a little time up front with backing up data, can save a lot of time and fees later if something negative happens.
If you have lost or accidentally deleted important data, and you have already checked the “Recycle Bin” for the misplaced data files, the best option to increase the chance of recovering your files at this point would be to turn off the computer where the files were originally being stored. It’s very important that you discontinue using the computer at this point to minimize the risk of corrupting the data that will need to be recovered. Once you have shut down the computer, contact Smith Technical Resources’ data recovery specialists and we will discuss the best approach with you for handling your particular data loss or data corruption situation with your device
