How To Install A Computer Power Supply

Simple step by step guide for computer power supply installation

Tools needed:

  1. A Phillips screw driver
  2. Needle nose pliers
  3. A flashlight

Power supply replacement procedure:

  1. Disconnect the power cable from the computer
  2. Unscrew and remove the desktop case cover
  3. Disconnect all of the power cables that are connected to your hard drive, dvd drive, motherboard, etc.
  4. Remove the external screws that hold the power supply in place
  5. Remove the old power supply from the computer case
  6. Mount the new power supply and install the screws that hold the power supply in place
  7. Reconnect all of the power supply connections to your computer’s internal devices including, the motherboard, the hard drive, the dvd drive, etc.
  8. Double check to make sure that the cables from the power supply aren’t in the way of the cpu cooling fan or other moving objects within the computer case
  9. Replace the outside computer case cover
  10. Reconnect the power cable
  11. Turn the computer on and check the power supply for proper functionality
