What are click-through rates?

Click-through rates (CTR) are defined as the amount of clicks that an advertisement receives divided into the amount of impressions or times the ad is displayed. An example would be an advertisement that has been displayed to users online 100 times. And out of those 100 impressions, the ad was clicked on twice. That would come out to a click-through rate of 2%. By studying your click-through rates you can determine what advertisements,  keywords, web page title and descriptions and also web page content has the most appeal to online users that are searching for your products or services.

But keep in mind that the click-throughs are only part of the conversion process. Converting those website visitors into paying customers involves additional work which will include good landing pages for each product or service, contact forms on those pages, easy to navigate layouts, fast web page load times on both desktops and mobile devices,  the competition for your chosen keywords,  web page graphics, plus many other factors.
